Ohio center commits to Cards
6-10 Price: Pitino a ?big factor'
By Jody Demling ? jdemling@courier-journal.com ? September 8, 2009
Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward center Zach Price told The Courier-Journal on Tuesday night that he has committed to UofL, picking the Cardinals over Ohio State and Michigan.

?There's no other school for me,? Price said. ?I came (to Louisville) in June and felt it was a very, very good school and situation for me. But I didn't know for sure.
?The second visit confirmed it.?
The 6-foot-10, 220-pound Price averaged 15 points and eight rebounds a game as a sophomore. He's ranked as the No.38 player in the '11 class by Scout.com and No.66 by Rivals.com.
Price said coach Rick Pitino was ?a huge factor? in his making a commitment and said he has also built a strong relationship with assistant coach Steve Masiello.
?I felt very comfortable there,? Price said. ?I was (at the football game on Saturday), and we were tailgating and taking pictures, and coach Pitino said, ?Come stand next to me, I'm going to be your coach.' My high school coach (Eric Flannery) is like that, and it just kind of rang a bell.?

2011 Cleveland big man commits to Louisville
Zach Price, the top-rated big man in Ohio in the class of 2011, is off the board. He committed to Louisville tonight, according to The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky.
The 6-foot-9 junior from Lakewood St. Edward chose the Cardinals over Ohio State and Michigan State.
Ohio State was thought by some to have been at the top of Price's list this spring, but because coaches were prevented by an NCAA rule change from watching AAU tournaments in April, he was under-exposed nationally. That changed in June and July.
?I?m keeping my options open," he told Scout.com after the Nike Hoop Jamboree in June. "People think I?m all Ohio State and thinking I?m going to Ohio State, but I?m keeping my options open and looking at all of the schools to see which one fits me.?
Ohio State may have backed off after that. Last month, Price said in another interview with Scout that Florida, Oklahoma, Michigan State and Louisville were the schools recruiting him the hardest. He made an official visit to Louisville last weekend with other 2011 recruits, including point guard Marquis Teague of Indianapolis.
A question worth pondering, though, is whether Price lost interest in Ohio State more than vice versa. He plays in the same AAU program, the King James Shooting Stars, as 2010 guard Cameron Wright of Cleveland Benedictine, who had committed to Ohio State a year ago only to have his scholarship offer pulled by coach Thad Matta last spring. Word since then is that Matta's move has created hard feelings with some in the Cleveland basketball community.
