CLEARWATER -- The scholarship offers keep rolling in for Countryside junior OT Tyler Moore.

And suffice to say, they're impressive ones.

The latest: Florida State, Miami and Ohio State, whose offers came in the mail Wednesday. They join Florida, Florida International, Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee and West Virginia. The offers from those programs reached Moore on Tuesday, the first day junior football players could receive official scholarship offers per NCAA rules.

More offers are likely on the way.

?I haven?t checked the mail yet today,? said Tyler Moore?s father, Brian.

Moore's favorites are Nebraska, Florida, Ohio State and Penn State.

Nebraska remains his leader.

Asked if the recruitment of his son had started to get a little hectic, Brian Moore replied, ?Oh no, this is fun.?

Tyler Moore is likely to make his selection this fall.

Countryside High football prospect tackles a big decision

CLEARWATER ? Tyler Moore was 7 when his father attempted to sign him up with the Junior Cougars, a youth football program based in Clearwater.

But the family encountered a problem.

"He already weighed 130 pounds," Brian Moore said. "They told us he'd have to play with the 13- and 14-year-olds. I said, 'No, we're not going to do it.' "

In hindsight, the issue might have been predictable.

When Tyler was born at Clearwater's Morton Plant Hospital in 1993, he weighed 9 pounds, 11 ounces.

"He," Brian Moore said, "was always big."

These days, being large isn't a bad thing for him.

Now 16 and an impressive-looking 6-foot-6, 290-pound junior offensive tackle for Countryside High School, Tyler is considered an elite college prospect.

Scout.com, a Web site devoted to football recruiting, recently named him one of the nation's 100 best juniors.

The praise doesn't end there.

According to longtime Countryside head coach John Davis, Florida Gators assistant Steve Addazio told him Tyler could end up being the top offensive line prospect in the state ? and possibly the nation ? for the Class of 2011.

"Coach Addazio said that Tyler is probably the best 16-year-old offensive lineman he's ever seen," Davis said.

On Sept. 1, the first day high school juniors could receive official scholarship offers from colleges according to NCAA rules, Tyler received written offers from Florida, Florida International, Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee and West Virginia.

A day later, Florida State, Miami and Ohio State followed suit.

Moore, a Nebraska native, admittedly wouldn't mind if Tyler played for his alma mater.

"I think he'd be happy at Nebraska," he said, smiling.

But, his dad added, he'd also be thrilled if Tyler played for Florida, Ohio State or Penn State, his son's other three favorites.

"I want him at a successful program," Moore said.

Pretty apparent that Moore is highly enamored with Nebraska.

Moore plans on seeing some games this fall in Gainesville, and he would love a chance to get to Columbus and Lincoln. Moore said he would like to make his decision in October or November this fall.

California, a big-time program from the Pac-10, is the latest school to offer Countryside junior OT Tyler Moore a scholarship. The Bears join Florida, Florida International, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Nebraska, where his father played, is Moore?s favorite at the moment.

?It?s almost business as usual for that guy,? said Brian Moore, Tyler?s dad. ?I think his reaction was, ?Well, I?m coast to coast now.? ?

Countryside junior Tyler Moore has worn Nebraska apparel almost since the day he was born.

Soon, he will have a new red-and-white outfit in his possession ? a Nebraska Cornhuskers football uniform.

On Friday night, Moore, a heralded 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive tackle for Countryside, fulfilled a lifelong dream when he committed to Nebraska, his father, Brian, told the St. Petersburg Times. That program has been No. 1 on Tyler's list since the day the Cornhuskers offered a scholarship and No. 1 in Moore's heart his entire life because of his strong ties to the school.

"He committed yesterday," Brian Moore said Saturday.

Brian Moore was a Nebraska tight end in the 1980s. Former NFL quarterback and Nebraska alum Vince Ferragamo is an uncle on the side of Tyler's mother (Kim Sorensen). Additionally, two of Moore's cousins played for the Cornhuskers.

Moore grew up watching Nebraska games with his father, and he became even more enamored after attending football camp there this past summer.

"I always loved the 'N' on the helmet," Moore said earlier this fall.
