Rainey also faces much better competition. Keep in mind that Devine would've never been able to break so many tackles as a 5'8 160lb guy if the tacklers weren't absolutely horrible. Rainey's tacklers were way better, and he used pretty much purely his instincts and speed to get that 12 ypc average while Devine relied very heavily on tacklers missing extremely easy tackles(some as simple as reaching out and grab his jersey).
