I LOVE the constant BCS modifications. Let's review.
1. The media and Coaches often split regarding who is the NC.
2. The BCS is brought in to use media polls, computer polls, SOS, etc. to select the best two teams to play for the NC.
3. The media complain that the BCS doesn't pick the team they want.
4. The BCS is 'tweaked'--to the point where it is now essentially just an average of the two polls.
I know I'm oversimplifying, but I nearly died this past year when USC claimed to be the NC. Everybody sets up a system to remove split NC's, then ignores it when it WORKED PERFECTLY--weighing the relative merits of two one-loss teams, and selecting the one that's had the more solid season OVERALL to play for the NC. A team that lost to Cal, but played a strong season otherwise does not, IMO, deserve to be selected ahead of a team that played a dominant season, but lost to a solid K-State team in the conf. Champ game--a hurdle that SC did not have to clear.
All ranting aside. go ahead and change the BCS--but PLEASE stand by the system you all agreed to use. IF you want to ignore it, then let's come up with something better, but while the BCS is still in force, accept it and its results. To do otherwise is to tell everybody that you still have some growing up to do.
