Jamil Tucker, a 6-8 forward from Gary, Ind., played with varied success during the Nike All-America Camp at IUPUI. Playing for Team Wake Forest, Tucker faded in and out of play for much of Saturday's games.
"I've been average," Tucker said. "I haven't played my best game or best effort yet. I don't think I hurt myself, but I don't think I helped myself."
Tucker is being recruited many Big Ten schools, including Indiana, Michigan State and Ohio State. The Gary West High School star favors the Buckeyes and sounded ready to commit earlier in the camp and join Lawrence North duo Greg Oden and Mike Conley in Columbus in 2006.
"I have to wait to find out what (Ohio State) is going to do," he said. "I'm going to call on Monday to find out if they're going to offer."
Tucker, ranked by rivals.com as the 45th-best prospect in the nation for 2006, hasn't ruled out playing his college hoops in Bloomington. However, if Mike Davis doesn't retain his job following next season, the Hoosiers will slip down the slender forward's list.
There had been talk of Tucker possibly looking at Purdue, but he said Boilermakers coach Matt Painter hasn't been in contact with him.

This saga is like a roller coaster.

Gary (Ind.) West forward Jamil Tucker has said for a while now that he wants to attend Ohio State. He is expected to announce on Monday that he plans to play for the Buckeyes, joining a class that includes Oden and Conley. But the 6-9 Tucker is just one of several forwards the Buckeyes are recruiting. Ohio State has given out four of seven available scholarships. Coach
Thad Matta also is in on Memphis forward
Thaddeus Young, the top uncommitted player in the class of 2006; Virginia power forward
Vernon Macklin, and Andrean power forward
Luke Harangody. Recruiting observers said this week they'd be surprised if Harangody doesn't announce for Notre Dame. . . . Expect to see Ohio State on CBS quite a lot in the 2006-07 season. A CBS representative was overheard telling Matta the network wanted the Buckeyes as much as possible when Oden arrives on campus. Expect to see Ohio State schedule a marquee non-conference series with either a Big East or SEC foe for CBS.
