Tried both.... TMPGEnc Xpress is the one that worked out of the two. Really easy to use. If you try it just remember to use the import wizard if you are going to import a DVR-MS file becuase you have to select that type of file. I edited the commercials out of a 30 minute episode of King of Queens. It took about 45 minutes to encode to a MPEG 1 file. Quality seems good... I'll have to burn to a DVD to see what it looks like on the big screen.
This is the trial version... it costs 58 bucks to purchase. I might have to see if I can find a crack.
EDIT: Video was MPEG 2 and Audio was MPEG 1
