The thing is that there there are teams that lose a lot of close games because they're a little undermanned but are well-coached and play tough. Those teams can be expected to improve their records when they get older or more talented. There are also teams that lose a lot of close games because they don't put proper emphasis on special teams and little details of field position, clock managment, ball security . . . . IMO, Purdue falls into the latter category and will continue to be "unlucky" in close games.
