The Indians will begin the 2006 regular season in Chicago and conclude it with a seven-game homestand at Jacobs Field against the White Sox and Tampa Bay Devil Rays in a schedule that is similar to the just completed 2005 season.

The big difference will be in inter-league play as Cleveland will face only NL Central Division teams.

The season opener is scheduled for Monday, April 3 against the defending AL Central champion White Sox. After three games in Chicago, the Indians are scheduled to open their home season on Friday, April 7 against the Minnesota Twins at Jacobs Field at 3:05 p.m.

Once again, Cleveland will play the Cincinnati Reds in a home-and-home inter-league series. The Indians will also play at Milwaukee and St. Louis, while playing host to Pittsburgh and the Chicago Cubs from the NL Central.

Cleveland will play a total of 75 games against AL Central opponents:

Chicago White Sox, nine at home, 10 on the road;
Minnesota Twins, 10 at home, nine on the road;
Detroit Tigers, nine at home, 10 on the road;
Kansas City Royals, nine at home, nine on the road.

The Indians’ busiest part of the home schedule will be in July, when they play 16 games at Jacobs Field. Here are the number of home games, by month:

May: 15
June: 13
July: 16
