Notebook: Peach-Perry could decide title


<!-- begin body-content --> When Perry and Peach County play Friday night in Fort Valley, the game will decide more than just which side of Mossy Creek has bragging rights.
The Trojans sit atop GHSA Region 4-AAA with a 4-0 record, a game up on Mary Persons (3-1). Perry remains the only other team in the region with just one loss (2-1). Washington County and Northeast each have two region losses, and would need some help to get into the title mix.
Peach County has one region game left after Friday - at Northeast on Oct. 28 while Perry has two - Northeast on Oct. 21 and at Southwest Oct. 28. Since the Macon schools will be the underdogs in each of the meetings, Friday's game will go a long way to determining the region champion and top seed for the playoffs.
History, however, isn't on Perry's side.
Peach County owns the series with a 22-7 record and hasn't suffered a loss this decade. The games seem to flip flop between being close - 3-0 in 2001, 14-13 in 2003 - and bordering on a blowout - 28-7 in 2000, 24-0 in 2002 and 38-14 in 2004.
