If the Yanks were truly losing money, then why not pick up some of A-Rod's deal and ship him to a team for 3 blue chip prospects? They'd save about $15 million a year, and they'd be able to command top flight prospects for him.

because cashman and steinbrenner operate under the guise of buying whoever they think will get them into the WS again. if the yanks farm system is so strong why would they have to command top flight prospects for A-Rod?
