Dunbar vs. Trotwood-Madison to be on TV
By Mark Gokavi
Dayton Daily News
Young kids on playgrounds in Dayton and Trotwood must be replaying what they saw Sunday. Sure, they can't dunk like Dunbar's Daequan Cook or block shots like Trotwood-Madison's Chris Wright during Dunbar's 71-64 win at UD Arena.
But they will keep practicing, hoping to someday play in a similar event. The game also revived a rivalry interrupted by the lack of a game last season.
"This was a great idea," T-M coach Ike Thornton said. "We needed to play one another this year — for both of our teams' sake, the schools' sake, the community. I thought it was a good community game.
"With Cook and Chris and their team and our team ... everybody wanted to see this game. I thought it was a good game. The (fans) got their money's worth."
For those who want to relive the game, it will be shown on television twice this week. The broadcast by WRCX TV-40, Time Warner 22, will be aired at 8 p.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. Saturday.
