Big Ten Wrestling Tourney

Big Ten Tournament is this weekend. Our Bucks have a huge mountain to climb. Big Ten has 9 teams ranked in the top 25 nationally. Our Bucks are not one of the nine. But we've got some good young talent ready to put on a show. I'd bet my vCash that we finish better than 10th in the tourney. Our seeded wrestlers are:

"Six Buckeye wrestlers are Top 8 seeds, with redshirt freshman J Jaggers (Northfield, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) leading OSU with a No. 4 seed at 149 pounds. At 174 pounds, fellow redshirt freshman Blake Maurer (Evansville, Ind./Mater Dei) earned a No. 5 seed. A trio of Buckeyes in Steve Sommer (Sr., West Carrollton, Ohio/Dayton Carroll), Alex Picazo (Jr., Columbus, Ohio/Grandview) and Kirk Nail (So., Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard) received the No. 7 seed at their respective weight classes of 157 and 184 pounds and heavyweight. True freshman Reece Humphrey (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) rounds out the field with a No. 8 seed at 133 pounds."

James Aston will be wrestling at 197, which means he must have won the challenge match with Corey Morrison. He's unseeded, but he's only had a few varsity matches this year. Would be nice to see him pick up a win or two, but it will be a tough road.

Top 7 in each weight class advance to the National Tournament. I'm picking our six seeded guys, plus TJ Enright at 141, and maybe James Aston, if he gets a good draw, to make it. Eight to Nationals would be the most the Bucks have had in years.

GO BUCKS!! Stick 'em!
