March 14, 2006 2:40 PM Baseball: Sophomore centerfielder Matt Angle has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week. Angle went 11-for-17 from the plate during last weekend's trip to Clearwater, Florida. On Sunday, he went 5-for-6, with hits on his first five trips to the plate. Amazingly, this was the second Sunday in a row that Angle accomplished this same feat.
He also went 3-4 on stolen bases and had 15 put-outs for the four-game weekend. Angle is hitting .452 for the season.
The Buckeyes head to Bradenton, Florida next week for six games in six days. Opening day at Bill Davis Stadium is March 29 versus Toledo.
