Just a couple of observations based on reading the Dayton Daily to keep up with the hometown:Trotwood is really streaking and should pose a tremendous problem for Lancaster. I know Lancaster has three D-I players who go 6.6, 6.7, and 6.10 (Akron and Indiana State for two of them, third is a JR), but Trotwood has a few guys over 6.5 with athleticism (including Chris Wright-UD), so that shouldn't be a problem. I expect that to be a tough battle that goes down to the wire. McKinley is still in a class by themselves, however, and should be the heavy favorite to win the thing. Of course, they won it last year with only one blemish on their record. The culprit? Lancaster.
Akron St. V-St. M versus Dunbar should be for the state title. Akron pulled off a nice win to get to the state semis by beating an undefeated team from the Northwest (Willard). The Northwest produces lots of fine Division II basketball programs over the years (Ottawa-Glandorf, Upper Sanduskey, Willard, Norwalk, Van Wert, etc...), so Akron's victory is quite a statement. Of course, I enjoyed your earlier write-up comparing Cook to Jimmy Jackson in high school, and it would be nice to read a follow up along those same lines! ADD: While reading around, I came across the tidbit that Clark Kellogg's youngster plays for Columbus DeSales.
It would be fun to see Lighty's boys make a run at NCH, but it probably would not be much of a game should that be the final. That being said, I have to think David wants to come to Columbus and show better for himself than he did against Dunbar. Would love to hear him putting up a valiant effort against OJ and Billy.
