Although this thread is closed down, I thought the news he possibly could be ineligible next season warranted posting....

O . J . Mayo , who was supposedly looking into transferring to Oak Hill (Va.) Academy even before he was suspended by North College Hill because of a fight with a student, may not be the only star player missing from the defending Division III state championship team next season.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Bill Walker’s eligibility for next season is under review by the Ohio High School Athletic Association. In question is how many semesters Walker will have attended North College Hill after his transfer from Rose Hill Christian (Ky.) as an eighth-grader. Starting in the ninth grade, a student-athlete has eight semesters to participate in athletics according to OHSAA bylaws, and Walker’s status is confusing because he has attended schools in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky since the seventh grade.

One issue is whether Rose Hill Christian listed him as a ninthgrader when Walker actually was still in eighth grade. Like Mayo, Walker didn’t attend a party at the school this week in honor of the team’s state championship.
Joe Nickel, the school’s athletics director, said Walker stayed home after a reporter had interviewed him at school earlier. "Bill did not come tonight because he knew there would be reporters here, and he said he’s tired of dealing with the media," Nickel said. Starting point guard Damon Butler (ill) and regular forward Andre Evans also didn’t attend the party, which was attended by approximately 150 North College Hill supporters.
