Mack Brown has knee replacement surgery

Texas football coach Mack Brown underwent knee joint replacement surgery on his left leg earlier this week, the school announced Friday.
Brown, who had his college career at Vanderbilt and Florida State cut short because of knee injuries in the early 1970s, expects to be fully recovered in time for the start of fall practice in early August, according to a statement released by the school. He will also conduct the UT football program's summer camps beginning May 30.


Brown had to reschedule speaking engagements with the National Football Foundation and Touchdown Club of Houston this month because of the surgery. He will speak to the Touchdown Club of Houston on Aug. 3 at the J.W. Marriott. Brown won the Bear Bryant Award as the nation's top college football coach in January after leading the Longhorns to the school's first national football title since 1970.
