"Breaking" a capillary in your hand would most likely mean a ruptured blood vessel. Looks like a bruise but will swell like a burn because the blood is trapped in between the skin and tissue. Hurts ike hell, and it can take a long time to heal and if you don't let it rest and heal properly you end up having a clot form that has to be surgically removed.

I had the same kind of thing happen to me when I was in high school and ended up having surgery on the clot because it grew to be the size of a golfball.
