Waco ISD (Waco High and Waco University High) started the trend in 2000 of the new stadiums.
Waco ISD Stadium
The stadium was built in 2000....at a cost of 15 million dollars. The stadium was planned to be paid off in 10 years.
The stadium paid itself off in less than 3 years!
The reason they paid it off so fast was that it hosts a ton of playoff games......that are sold out every game. The reason it attracts so many playoff games is Waco is the most central location in the state of Texas.
Other ISD's then saw what Waco achieved........and built new stadiums.....their not as successful as Waco ISD as far as revenue....but the facilities are needed. They would not build them here if they didn't make money!
You have to think if Waco ISD paid the stadium off in less than 3 years with a price tag of 15 million.......all of that money now it generates is pumped back into the school district.
As far as indoor facilities.....it's kinda over the top....but it is really hot here also so being inside helps.
Texas high school football emulates the NCAA teams.......to me Texas high school football is very much colleges......there is not much difference......except the kids are younger.....even the rules here...we go by the NCAA rules.
