Roll of dice pays off big for Harding
96-yard pass play for touchdown sparks Hawks’ victory at Luers

They begged him to let them do it.
“I can beat this coverage,” Selwyn Lymon promised.
“I’ll get the ball there,” Devin Dominguez swore.
“We’ll protect him,” the offensive line vowed.
And so Harding coach Sherwood Haydock did what he never does: He put the game in his players’ hands.
Ninety-six yards later, they were still hanging onto it.
Lymon streaked deep, Dominguez let it go, and with one breathtaking gamble on third-and-13 from its own 4-yard line, a Can-You-Top-This (and Can-You-Stop-This) evening turned in the Harding Hawks’ favor Friday night at Luersfield.
Final score, in maybe the best game in the SAC this season: Harding 27, Bishop Luers 20.
Additional final score: Players 1, Haydock 0.
“Very rarely do I let them do that, but they called the play,” Haydock said. “I think maybe that one play has changed this team for the better.”
