USC is somewhat like ND right now...people, and especially the media, think they are better than they are, and have done more than they have done. There are still plenty in the "greatest stretch in college football history" camp, with the 3 Heismans and all the victories, despite the fact, of course, that they have only one MNC to show for it. To many USC will be #1 forever until they lose to someone in the regular season again...that's just the way it is.

It really doesn't matter all that much in the long run...hell almost every single ESPN guy said we wouldn't even beat Iowa or win the Big Ten. There are teams the media wants to believe are good, and ones they don't. It is annoying, but that's just how it is.
