Everyone holds...Buckeye linemen included. If they called all the holding that some people would like, there would never be a play that counted. That said...what criteria do they use to actually toss the flag? It seems like most officials use the "did it have something directly to do with the play" thing...in other words, did the hold keep someone from making a tackle, getting a sack, or preventing a long gain. Problem with that is, with the complex schemes that both offense and defense use anymore, ANY hold can significantly affect a play.
I don't know what the "right" answer should be, but it seems like there should be something.
