Mr. Robbins-

I just saw your "article" about Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel- nice. The Buckeyes just won one of the biggest games in OSU football history, secured a spot in the National Championship game, and a young man probably tied up winning the Heisman Trophy- a huge personal achievement. And what do you choose to write about? Old, re-hashed garbage about Troy Smith and demeaning speculation about Jim Tressel.

You're right- Troy made some mistakes (ever made one?), but if you had been paying attention over the last few years, under Coach Tressel's guidance he not only learned how to be a great QB, but he became a better person- a leader, a team player, and an example on and off the field for Ohio State's younger players.

As for Coach Tressel- "Teflon Tressel" (What a clever nickname, by the way. Did you come up with that one on your own?), if you think that he intentionally recruits "bad" people just for their athletic abilities, doesn't care about his or the university's reputation, and is in this strictly for the money, then you obviously haven't done one bit of homework on who he is. Jim Tressel bleeds Scarlet & Gray. He was born and raised a Buckeye, and cares deeply about The Ohio State University, its football program, and the young men who play for him.

Now, with all of that to choose from, including the gravity of the game itself, why did you decide to write yet another tired article trashing Ohio State? Was it easier? You could have probably plucked most of what was printed directly from the pages of ESPN's magazine from several years ago. That surely would have been easier than doing a little homework and writing something nice. Or were you just trying to sell papers? Everybody loves a trash piece, even an old re-hashed one.

You can, and probably will, just write me off due to my obvious bias. I love The Ohio State University. I am a proud alum, and a huge fan of OSU sports- football in particular. I guess that's okay, you don't have to care about what I think. But at least do me this favor- in the future, when your editor asks for something to fill up a few columns of space simply suggest that he insert another advertisement and keep your mouth shut.
