I think that MSU has the horses to be competitive right away. The thing that's going to take a long time to turn around is their ability to always pull defeat from the jaws of victory. This has been a problem with MSU ever since I started watching college football. I'm sure it was there before I started watching. The collapse of the entire season in the face of adversity was a staple of the John L. Smith era, but MSU's ability to implode at any given time of any game can be tracked back alot further than the Smith era.
