Nearly 40 professional and collegiate scouts showed to watch the pitching duel between Bauserman (1-0) and Madison County's Jeremy Haynes (0-1), an early signee with Florida State. They certainly couldn't have been disappointed.
Bauserman, relying on a 90-mph-plus fastball and lively curve, allowed two hits, struck out nine and surrendered one earned run. Haynes struck out eight and allowed two earned runs but was tagged for six hits, three doubles.
"It was an awesome game," Haynes said. "Anytime you can face Lincoln and pitch against Joe Bauserman, you don't even go to sleep at night because you can't wait for the game. This one will help us."
