There is no way you redshirt a guy like Pryor. There is no telling that he will ever be an effective QB. He has all the tools to be a great one, but also if lacking accuracy he could end up not playing QB.
That making him a great canidate for WR or even DE, LB, S, TE. Bascially anywhere on the field.
Therefore you bring him in, see what he has at QB and then let him try and see the field at other positions during his freshmen year, while still letting him get reps with QBs. He is too good just to sit and wait for the QB job to open up.
