Therefore you bring him in, see what he has at QB and then let him try and see the field at other positions during his freshmen year, while still letting him get reps with QBs. He is too good just to sit and wait for the QB job to open up.

I'm not saying that he should be redshirted because he wouldn't be able to adjust to the college game his first year, I just think that with all of the capable QBs we'll have during his first year, he would be better off saving a year of eligibility to learn the ropes and to mature. I'm a big believer in redshirting (unless the freshman can really contribute and is needed during his first year), because it gives the player time to get used to the college level, and will be a year ahead for the rest of his collegiate career.
If he really wants to stick to QB, which is a strong possibility, then he would be in position to take over after Henton leaves, which would leave him 2 full seasons at the least, if he does come to tOSU, and redshirts.
