Gophers football coach
Tim Brewster secured the first verbal commitment for his 2008 recruiting class Monday from Cretin-Derham Hall junior tailback
Shady Salamon.
One of eight in-state juniors to receive an offer from Brewster, Salamon was the first to commit.
Salamon is best friends with Cretin-Derham Hall star receiver Michael Floyd -- one of the nation's top recruits -- and Raiders quarterback John Nance. All three attended the team's Junior Day event this past weekend.
