there are two sides to a basketball court. a guard's value is not just found on the offensive end. he is a severe liability on defense.

No way Diebler is in Calathes's category IMO; I believe Calathes is a top-5 recruit.

no offense, max, but those two statements are completely inaccurate. there is very little that calathes does that diebler cannot do better. diebler is a better shooter, better jumper, better defender (yes), and is a good enough passer to give calathes a run.
if diebler had on his high school team half the player that parsons was for calathes, my statements would be all the more apparent. who on diebler's team went up for so many alley oops that make highlight clips for calathes? who on diebler's team played around the rim so much that it opened up the outside like it did for calathes? who on diebler's team was so good that defenders were forced not to double- and triple-team him?
however, this really isn't about calathes versus diebler. this is about all of the players that were rated behind calathes who in no way should be considered inferior. whatever. in the end, the scout and rivals player rankings matter only off the court. we'll see soon enough what the true rankings are.
finally, i'm not even sure what to say to someone who thinks that calathes is one of the 5 best players to become a college freshman. wow... just... wow. that just boggles my mind that someone would claim that.
