No decision by Indiana on Hoeppner's continued absence
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) ? Indiana athletic director Rick Greenspan won't speculate what action he might take should ailing football coach Terry Hoeppner be unable to return to the team in time for preseason practice this summer.
Hoeppner, still undergoing treatment in his recuperation from brain surgery, made his last major public appearance in late February at an NCAA luncheon in Indianapolis. He skipped spring practice and did not attend the annual spring game in mid-April.
Assistant Bill Lynch, a former head coach at Butler, Ball State and DePauw, guided the team in Hoeppner's absence.
Greenspan said Thursday he is pleased with the work by Lynch and the rest of the staff, but he's not ready to say what he would do if Hoeppner is still out through the summer and fall.
