Randleman had a couple unfortunate circumstances, which I think are reflected in his fight record.

Anyone see the Bas Rutten fight? Bas Rutten being awarded a decision over Randleman was as legitimate as Roy Jones not winning the gold medal in the Olympics. Randleman kicked his ass, period. That would have put his record at 8-2 and at the top of the UFC talent.

More recently, the loss to Fedor Emelianenko began a momentum shift downward for Randleman. Fedor is IMO the most dominant fighter currently, and maybe ever, in MMA, and Randleman should have beaten him. And I am not talking from a scarlet-colored-glasses perpective. Randleman suplexed Fedor such that Fedor's entire weight landed directly on his head which was firmly planted into the ground. My initial thought was that Randleman broke Fedor's neck. I think that was Randleman's reaction as well, as he layed off out of caution. Fedor took advantage of the gift he was given and immediately proceeded to submit Randleman.
