Michael Marrow called his former DeSales teammates last night after New Albany's 38-14 win over visiting Granville.
He still talks to the guys after every game. He spent his freshman year at DeSales.
Given that his cell phone plan probably offers a provision that allows for free air time on nights and weekends, the soft-spoken New Albany running back could have chosen to be far more liberal in his description of the game.
"I'll probably just tell them we won," said Marrow, whose Eagles face DeSales next week in an early season matchup of unbeatens.
He's more frugal with his words than his legs.
The 245-pound junior tailback ran 26 times for 198 yards and two touchdowns, spearheading an offense that racked up 554 total yards, with 452 of those coming on the ground. The team averaged 9.2 yard per carry, helped by four long touchdowns by four players.
