True, at least when they are unexpected, I completely agree. I am presuming an orderly hand-off, more like Alvarez stepping aside with Bielema ready to take the reins. Michigan, however, doesn't appear to have an heir-apparent in the wings, and a continuation-type coaching change may no longer be appropriate for them, so that may not be a valid presumption.

Also, given the comments of the recruits afte the Oregon game, a pre-NLOID coaching change might be neccessary in order to preserve their recruiting class.

Really, if this season continues to be the sort of failure that it looks to be, I can't imagine that anyone would believe in January or February 2008 that Carr would be returning for another season.
