COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's cross country team won its second-consecutive meet to open the season with a victory in the Tennessee Invitational in Maryville, Tenn., Friday.

The Buckeyes swept the Top 3 spots for the second week in a row. Junior Jeff See won the 8-kilometer race with a time of 25:30.24. Sophomore Chad Balyo took second with a time of 25:27.10. Senior co-captain John Ealy rounded out the Top 3 just edging out Andrew Press of Tennessee, as Ealy finished in a time of 25:30.04.

"I thought we raced real well," Robert Gary, head coach, said. "We trained extremely hard on the hills at our training camp in North Carolina, so I am very pleased with the times. It rained the entire day and the course is not easy.

''We will continue to work on running as a group during hard sessions and races and look the have a fifth man step up. The Dellinger Invitational in 2 weeks will be a real test on the National level''.

With the win the Buckeyes are now undefeated in September the past two seasons combined, winning a total of five team titles. The last time the Buckeyes failed to win a September meet was the Roy Griak Invitational Sept. 24, 2005.

The Buckeyes will take a week off and then head to the Bill Dellinger Invitational Sept. 29 in Eugene, Ore. The meet will be held at the Springfield Country Club, with a scheduled start time of 12:15 p.m. EDT.
