Rule 7.09 (e)
If, in the judgment of the umpire, a base runner willfully and deliberately interferes with a batted ball or a fielder in the act of fielding a batted ball with the obvious intent to break up a double play, the ball is dead. The umpire shall call the runner out for interference and also call out the batter-runner because of the action of his teammate. In no event may bases be run or runs scored because of such action by a runner.

Nobody in the Diamondbacks' clubhouse seemed willing to concede that Justin Upton's slide wasn't within the rules. Maybe after they see the replays, and see Upton use his forearm to take out Kaz Matsui, they'll change their minds. Umpire Larry Vanover got this one right.

So, yeah, the call was right. If the paramaters of the game were different maybe there wouldn't have been such a stink. D-Backs fans were frustrated that Webb was getting owned. An almost rally cut short. Upton was running a little [censored]ed too after jarring it up a little after getting hit by the pitch.
