COLUMBUS, Ohio ? Michaela O'Malley, a senior co-captain on the Ohio State field hockey team, scored the Buckeyes? lone goal Sunday in a 2-1 loss to No. 4 Iowa at North Turf Field. The contest was the teams? final regular-season home game and seniors Jamie Gofgosky, Yesenia Luces, O?Malley and Kelly Terwilliger were honored before the match.
The game also was televised live by the Big Ten Network. It was the second of three Ohio State field hockey regular-season games that will be broadcast by the network this season.
The first half ended with the score tied at 1-all with the teams exchanging goals in the 13th minute. After a diving save by sophomore OSU goalkeeper Lindsay Quintiliani on a Lauren Pfeiffer penalty corner shot down the middle of the circle, Iowa teammate Katie Naughton tapped in the ball from the right side of the cage to give the Hawkeyes the 1-0 edge at the 13:14 mark.
