during the indian wars in 1789, which is very much part of the "wild west" days, there were 6,125 killed in that year alone as a result of combat. thats not counting unrelated murders and accidental deaths. not to mention the fact that proportional populations vrs. area was significantly different. so that works out to being roughly 16.7 dead americans per day. not counting indian's who imo were very much american's as well.
