Here's the thing about the 2007 Patriots:
They're the best team I've ever seen, and I can't enjoy it.
Even when the Bulls were winning 6 out of 8 titles, and that prick Rodman was hacking people and Jordan was whining about being breathed on, I still sat back and relished in their greatness. Why? Because it was, as Wesley Snipes might say, "pretty," and for the most part, the Bulls did it with class. When the Spurs win another title next year, even if it's another 4-0 sweep over the Cavs, I'll smile a little bit because I'd be watching a combination of pure class and greatness. When the Yankees were winning titles (you know, before the obscene spending sprees), I at least respected them, because guys like Jeter, Paul O'Neil, Bernie Williams, Mariano Rivera, etc... had a lot of what?
CLASS.
The Patriots have none. And worse yet, they're dirty. Every game is about running up the score on the opponent, or hitting the opposing team up high so that they know you're coming and trying to take their head off. Or plowing into a rookie offensive tackle on a spike play, almost ending the tackle and his quarterback's season. Or videotaping the opposing team's signals. Or embracing your doping, headhunting safety with a standing 'O' as he walks on the field.
If ever there was a sports scenario comparable to a comic book story, it's this year's 2007 NFL season. The Colts are the superhero. The Patriots are the evil villian. And there's no fair in-between. Hopefully, like in comic books, the superhero comes out on top in the end. Then I could enjoy watching the 2007 Patriots.
