i just have a hard time believing they pass on mayo, if he wants to come to town... he can play 1-3 no questions. its a great problem to have if you ask me, turning down a kid who a couple of years ago wed drool to have.

I agree they won't turn him down, I'm just pontificating if the team would be better off with a strong wing who won't be gone in a year. That being said, I've since checked out tyus/turner's film, and upon reflection, there's no way I take them over mayo

I'm with you on that one. Mayo is a can't miss and if he wants a year of playing college ball I hope its OSU. All this negative talk about him sounds like garbage from reporters.Oh he gets in a fight, he bad mouths about a reporter. He laughs at the storys they made up about him. I have a real problem believing anyone that works in that type of field reporting about a top player. 90% of them are full of [censored] for sellings not about the truth.

Madsen is a part of the 2006 class.

I like your lineup, and prefer tyus/turner over mayo... simply for depth. After 07 OSU wil lose butler, twigs and hunter, and could lose Oden, Cook & Koufos. Mayo is enormously talented, but OSU does not need him at the point (Butler's 4th year, conley's 2nd year)... and would be another defection before the 08 season.

Winslow, I understand your point of view, but if Mayo wants to be a part of the program, Matta will take him. He would be crazy to turn him away. I mean who do we think he is?? Jim O'Brien.....

That is exactly what I keep thinking....we are actually debating if tOSU should take Mayo! Amazing.

I would say it couldn't hurt but Mayo wouldn't make a decision based on Tyus.

The only thing I don't see happening is Roe and Gates coming in together. Gates seems to be overly concerned about PT and from what I've heard it is either one or the other and the staff is going HARD after Roe right now.

While I would love to have Mayo (I think he could make the difference between an Elite 8 team and a Final 4 team), I think if he waits too long the ship might say of on him. With Tyus visiting with his family within the next couple weeks, we will be out of schollies unless someone does transfer. Also, I have no problem with Mayo being a one and done if we can get Buford in the class of 08.

I luv the projected 07 class above, I think Mayo would be the difference between F4 team that has a great shot at NC and the prohibitive NC favorite. Tyus and Mayo would be unbelievable! If Bell transfers out, it could be possible though unlikely.

In 2008, Conley will be our only PG. Offut most likely moves to the wing, so we definitely need one, IMO. Offutt may be able to fill in at spot times, but I would much rather have a purer PG in there to spell Conley and take over for him afterwards. Plus, it is no guarantee he stays 4 years either.

For the Class of 09 I have heard in Warren that we are recruiting Freshmen phenom Desmar Jackson who plays at Warren JFK. This kid is a flat out sensation. He plays for the King James Shoting Stars and I wont be surprised if he gets an offer in the near future.

i have a feeling Mullins will be one of the top 3 players in the nation as a senior in hs, and may see more playing time as a freshman in college than most would think.

Offutt is going to develop into a 2 guard in my opinion. Crater is getting a ton of attention right now and it will be hard to get him out of the state of Michigan. At this point, I think we need to look at some other targets because I am not convinced that Conley will be here for 4 years.

Sorry guys been out of the loop for a couple days but this is a good discussion.

I know that we are not done with this class and would really like to bring in some sort of 1/2 guard. I don't think that is the way we go tho. I think that they are looking at Turner/Tyus combo.

I like Turner and think he would be an excellent fit, he is long and athletic, but looks likes like he is giong to go to Illinois and make them have one fantastic class in 08.

As for Tyus, I don't really have an opinion yet. I don't think he would have any problem matching up defensivly against a 3 but don't think he has the offensive skill set. Now this has just been derived from me watching a 2 minute highlight video of him dunking the ball, but there was nothing off the dribble and not sure if he has the handles to play a wing position.

Overall I guess if the staff feels confident in Conley staying all four years(which I would put at a 95% chance and if they have some highly touted targets in the 08 class like Crater well then go ahead and wait to take another 1/2 guard in that class to go along with Offut.

Also I really hope that Buford can join that class in 08 along with Roe, I think Gates is going to go to Cincy.

Another thing I would love to see us get involved with Chris Wright in the 07 class but that is a pipe dream.

Same thing with Mayo, if he starts menitioning us in some interviews, I might start to start drinking that kool-aid, but until then I am not even thinking of the possibility.
