At this point it is hard to project who will leave early except for Mullens......

Losing Behanan hurt
He was once projected as the top player in his class but that is no longer the case.......not a huge loss as you would think......

Quote:
Pe'Shon Howard recently still listed us as well. Could they still be contemplating a "PG" with a 7th ship
No.......Teague is the main target at PG.

The staff has moved onto the 11', 12' classes and they have been hosting guys the past couple weekends at the football games...I am sure Junkie' will get threads on them if there aren't already when he gets time...
The staff has moved on and is targeting kids.............between Litlbuck and myself.....I think we have identified the majority of the 11-12 prospects at this point.......

I HOPE Turner and Buford stay through at least their JR seasons, but many folks claim that Turner and his advisors have targeted his being a 2&d from his h.s. days and still have that plan firmly in mind. They say this is common knowledge among those who know him. I hope they are wrong, but I don't personally have any idea what his "camp" is thinking. Many seem to think it is "a given" that this is his last season tho. I feel that way about BJM, but not about Turner or Buford.

I know that '11 Teague is a hi priority, but if they are looking at using a 7th ship in '10 - then maybe they would still consider a point with it. I'm not sure how serious they were with "stringing along" Weatherspoon, but maybe they are considering some other options with a 7th ship as well. I wouldn't rule it 100% out - tho it seems dubious.

I am an advocate or having at least 3 options at PG at all times. I do not want to see an IronMan situation there ( like Butler was in as both a Soph and Sr ) ever again! Teague shouldn't fear Smith or a Howard or even having SR Crater and Offutt probably still here. The "worrying about who is in front" stuff is over, we are going to be too good to hold spots open for recruits in the future. I'm not that keen on kids that don't want any competition at their position anyway. Did Conley fear Butler? Did Buford shrink at the thought of Lighty, Turner and Diebler returning at wing? Two PGs can start and play a lot if they are good enough! Teague is more of a scoring PG anyway so he could easily play alongside Crater, IMO!

They must have coveted Behanan or they wouldn't have offered him so early. Now maybe he's at risk of being tweener size or not developing as much as others over his last 3 years of h.s. but as "hurtin" as we've been for PF depth I think it still stings. One of TM's recruiting achilles has been the 4 spot. He's gone after a LOT of candidates in and out of state and mostly struck out. So losing another, that he offered very early and that is a highly regarded in-state talent, isn't great.

JMHO

I think Turner will stay through his junior season and I have repeated that many times. However with regards to Buford, I have seen draft projections for underclassmen then have him as high as #5 for this year's draft. I am hoping that we could get at least two years out of him.

It's interesting that some think Buford won't even start and others think he is more likely to go pro after this season than Turner ( who will undoubtedly start and probably play more than Buford ).

I don't know that either will get enough "PR", shots, notice to be a high draft choice. But then those things didn't necessarily stop Cook or KK either. I do think you have to have more when you aren't a BIG, like KK. Does Buford have a big enough rep and enough pro skills to overcome a good but not great frosh year and still be drafted hi? Will he or Turner break out and be sooo good they do garner national acclaim and hi draft status?

I am just pointing out what the NBA scouts think of Buford's talent. Check out some NBA mock drafts for underclassmen. I think he will probably get as many minutes as Cook if not more. You need to change your name from "optimist" to " "
