I guess I am somewhat confused when it comes to Matta's recruiting style especially for coming years. This past summer both a Ohio under 17 and under 15 team won national AAU titles but when it comes to recruiting Thad seems to look out of state more than he does in this state of Ohio. I just have to assume that the individual talent is better outside of Ohio but we put together better teams for the AAU circuit. I realize that 3 of the under 17 team (including Sibert) are Ohio State recruits but I don't see Ohio State mentioned with many of the under 15 team.

TM seems to have offered most all of the AOR 17 members that are T100 players. Are there really that many on the U15 team that are mentioning programs and aren't interested in OSU? It seems kind of early for most of them anyway, no?
I do know TM seems to be as interested, or more interested, in the IN players in the 2011 and 2012 classes as he is in the OH players. But I think that is okay as he has struck major gold in that state in the past and it pays to get in on hi major talent early out of state. Maybe that is what you are seeing. He is paying more attention to out of state guys early because he needs to get a foot in the door earlier on them than the OH kids that are already pretty familiar with our program and its success. It's an interesting observation anyway! maybe he wants better talent in the future than OH seems to be creating. Or maybe those teams have too many guys that are great players in AAU but not so appealing for college ball. Guess we'll see! Quote:

The point I was trying to make was that I had not seen much discussion regarding Thad recruiting kids from the state of Ohio who played for AAU teams that won national championships but he has shown some interest in kids from out of state. I would think a player or two that has played on a national AAU championship team might be better than some guys from out-of-state. What I was trying to talk about is it the player or the team that has made the Ohio AAU teams so good and if it is the players why isn't he showing any interest.
I t will be very difficult to pull Joe Jackson out of Memphis ![]() |

Is this coming from that article from a week or two ago, don't remember who wrote it, but saying that at least have of them are going to have trouble qualifying?

That assumes the individual players on a winning AAU program's roster are more talented than those on AAU teams that aren't winning as much. Which could well be a false assumption. Some teams gell better than others despite inferior individual talent - coaching and chemistry can be much bigger factors at that level and with that style of play. I'm not saying that is the case here, but it can be and assuming he should recruit from winning AAU programs MORESO is probably not a good assumption to make - in general.
I don't have any worries or qualms about his underclass recruiting so far. Guess we'll see when the final classes come in for '11 and '12. ![]() Quote:

They have a year to raise scores and core GPA, so even if it is true ( and I'm not sure how accurate that leak was ) they have plenty of opps to right the ship. They need a kick in the butt and some sense of urgency tho - for those still below the mark! ![]() |

Just to update...All 2010 committs will be just fine academically...I know there were some false reports out there, and they were just that...
2011 and 2012 recruiting are starting to heat up...Don't see committs coming anytime until after high school basketball season tho... |
