It's hard to compare the game of a young man with that of someone 3 years older, but it looks to me like Jared could aspire to Blair's game, if he gets a lot more vigorous on the backboards.

DeJuan Blair and Blake Griffin exhibit an appetite for rebounding that I don't think I've seen since Charles Barkley and Dennis Rodman. Oh, and Paul Millsap, one of the most underrated players in the NBA today.

Frankly, I'd be highly pleased if Jared's game were comparable to Shaun Stonerook's. He was the best rebounder the Bucks have had in the past 15 years IMO.

Don't think he is going to be quite that big...Blair is so strong...

And Blair doesn't have the outside game that Sullinger does...I consider to think Kevin Love or terrance Dials with an outside game...

i think he is comparable in skill set to a young barkley, he has that ability out on the floor. that being said its developing from where he is today to.. wherever that might be. hard to tell but he has decent hands, ability to step out of the floor, the body to bang and well hes kinda a chubby guy like sir charles too. certianly is not and will not be a specimen type athlete.

MVP at an AAU Tourney in VA.

Jared Sullinger led All-Ohio Red to the under-17 championship in the Boo Williams Invitational today in Hampton, Va.... Sullinger, a junior at Northland, had 22 points and 18 rebounds in a 75-72 win over Team Final of Philadelphia in the championship game. He had 22 points in a semifinal victory earlier. Sullinger was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Past MVPs include Allen Iverson, Kevin Durant, Tyson Chandler and Jason Kidd.

REAL DEAL IN THE ROCK : Sullinger shines

Jared Sullinger claimed to have "dead legs" for Friday's opening game of the Real Deal in the Rock, but the 6-8 star of the All Ohio Red team seemed to be everywhere.

In the first five minutes of a 76-65 victory over the MBA Hoops Elite, Sullinger pulled down 4 rebounds, blocked 3 shots and made 3 steals at UALR's Jack Stephens Center. That early spark helped set the tone for the remainder of the tournament's feature game.

"For the most part, he's a relaxed, high-IQ kid," All Ohio Red Coach Quentin Rogers said. "He rarely ever wavers as far as his emotions go. When he does get emotional, it can be a lot worse than it was today."

Sullinger and his teammates started the morning in their hometown of Columbus, Ohio. They flew to Houston, where they caught their connecting flight to Little Rock. The team was on the court less than two hours after landing in Arkansas.

"That was rough," said Sullinger, an Ohio State committment who finished with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 5 blocks and 3 steals. "Coming in here when you've got dead legs and you really can't move, it takes you a half a game to get your legs halfway warmed up. It takes another 10 minutes to where you're ready to play a real game. By the time you're really ready to play there's only five minutes left."

Sullinger, who just completed his junior season at Northland High School in Columbus, is No. 1 on the list of many recruiting services. He averaged 19.9 points, 12 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game and was selected as Mr. Basketball for Ohio. He is the younger brother of former University of Arkansas player J.J. Sullinger and he has another brother who is also a college basketball player at Kent State.

"He comes from a family of basketball players and that's made him mature," Rogers said. "His daddy's a coach and his two brothers played. He's been around basketball since he was a baby. For the most part, he does what he can do. He rarely steps out of the box and he won't do anything he hasn't worked on."

Individual battles on display

One of the most highly anticipated individual matchups of the spring took place on Sunday morning pitting 6-foot-8 and 260 pound Jared Sullinger against 6-foot-10 and 270 pound Josh Smith. With Jeremy Tyler leaving the United States for Europe, Sullinger and Smith are maybe the two best low block players in the class.

With the two wide bodies prepared to take on each other, many were wondering who would get the best of the battle, and from the very beginning it was obvious that Sullinger was going to come out on top.

Though Sullinger is shorter than Smith, he was able to bother Smith with his length on defense, and on offense with a variety of post moves and an uncanny ability to offensive rebound. In fact, rebounding is where the difference between the two was most notable.

Sullinger pulled in seven boards in the first half as compared to only three for Smith, and many of those led directly to points. Also Sullinger limited Smith's touches by playing good post defense, while more often than not Sullinger got the ball in a position to score.

In the first half of their battle Sullinger had 10 points and seven rebounds compared to Smith's four points and three rebounds, and the second half was much of the same. Sullinger was able to get Smith into some foul trouble by beating him with post moves, and when Smith was out of the game Sullinger completely dominated on the glass.

Overall Smith had a few nice plays, including a pair of late dunks, but still the damage was done. All-Ohio cruised to a win, and Sullinger himself looked great in the process. For the game Sullinger finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds while Smith was limited to 11 points and six rebounds.

Sullinger is exactly what we have been lacking inside the past couple of years.........a force inside who WANTS to rebound...........I never believed Koufos or Mullens bought into the program during their time at tOSU and I think both were more focused on getting to the next level.......JMO.
