Thomas said he wanted to look at PURDUE, Indiana, Michigan State, and Duke out of those schools i don't see why he would look at Purdue.

After Gordon heads to the NBA (after '07), I'd say Purdue has a pretty comparable roster to IU, if not superior. Painter is doing good things at Purdue.

Painter is good but I would think I had a better chance to do good at a Ohio State.

Simply put...Purdue and Indiana are in state schools and that is where the pressure is coming from......

My Five Recruiting Trips
Sure, I'd back off too! With three years to go, I'd take one recruiting trip to Hawaii, then to Colorado in the winter to ski, then to Miami (again in winter), to the University of New Orleans (around Mardi Gras time), and finally to UMass (for clam chowder). Then I'd commit to OSU.
(I guess you can tell I'm older, think of eating instead of partying).

I apologize for my overall ignorance in basketball recruiting, but is this something that will likely stay quiet for a while? Does it seem like he backed off of his verbal so he can wait closer to his graduation (to keep Indiana/Purdue fans off his case), or is there a real potential that he is second guessing things?

From what I gathered, the kid seems to know that tOSU is it, but those around him want him to make sure. That means these extra visits, although maybe a token thing, could end up meaning something. A lot can happen in the time it will take him to get to his first opportunity of signing. But, having said all of that, I don't think that there's a school out there that should feel any better than OSU does, and as long as Thad is around (lifetime contract as far as I'm concerned), we are the team to beat. FWIW.
