I would have to say it would be a great get for OSU if they could nab him. Sure, they could go after higher rated guys, but I don?t think you are going to find a harder worker than Craft, and someone with all the intangibles he brings. Plus, he?s already familiar with Sullinger, Siebert, Weatherspoon, and Payne, so there is a chemistry there that you can build on.

Before these responses to my first post, I called my friend in Flag City who has seen him play both.. I have to say that everything I got from the phone call has already been said in this thread. I think we have enough evidence by now. I asked 6'0 or 6'3, he said it was probably 6'2.. The sticking point for me was when he said that once Aaron gets inside the arc on a dribble-drive, he won't miss a shot... and could QB a MAC team no problem.

Would it be possible that Craft could come to OSU on an academic scholarship leaving another athletic scholarship open for the team? For those of you who aren't familiar with ACT scores a 32 is VERY good. To give a frame of reference, the average ACT score to get into an Ivy League school is around a 32, and obviously everyone knows a 4.0 GPA is solid as well especially being a multi-sport athlete at his school

Those are 2 questions needing to be answered.

Let's assume nobody leaves early now (Turner, Buford) and Lighty comes back.

Max scholarships available in any given year: 13

Roster:

1 PG: Walter Offutt
5 W: Evan Turner, William Buford, Jon Diebler, Jordan Sibert, Lenny Smith
4 F: David Lighty, DeShaun Thomas, Jared Sullinger, Nikola Kecman
2 C: Dallas Lauderdale, Zisis Sarikopolous

Ok, so that's 12 total, now assume we get Craft and that's your 13 max. However, I don't think Lighty comes back for 2010. I think Turner goes pro after next year. I think Buford has a fairly OK shot at staying.

So, those 12 up top, plus Craft = 13... minus Lighty, Buford = 11. This leaves space for both Weatherspoon and Payne, does it not?

Lighty will be back for his 5th year...Turner will be gone after next year...

we have the max # 13 for 2010...

Craft will hopefully be in that #...

Craft visits campus
I'm covering the Memorial Tournament this week and don't have much if any time to stay on top of the basketball beat, but others are.

HighMajorScoop.com, which broke the news last week that 2010 guard Aaron Craft was rescinding his commitment to Tennessee, reported that Craft was on the Ohio State campus today for an unofficial visit. Craft's father, John, told the Web site of the visit.

The Dispatch reported last Friday that Craft plans to make an oral commitment to the Buckeyes on June 15. That would get his decision out of his way as his summer of competition gets under way with the NBA Players Association Top 100 camp in Richmond, Va., that week.

Pretty sure this one is in the bag. From what I have heard, Ohio State is the place AC wants to be and a commitment is basically forthcoming. Finally it looks like OSU is going to have a very good class without having to worry about the majority of them being one-and-dones.

"I think all together it was a pretty good day just seeing everything and understanding where they are coming from and where they stand right now with my recruiting."

Where they stand is impressed enough with Craft to make him a firm scholarship offer.

When asked if a commitment could happen fairly soon, Craft said, "I think it could. After yesterday, it kind of put my mind at ease and I know it put my parents' minds at ease, knowing where they stand with everything. I like it and they both liked it and it all starts with that short drive down there. My parents liked that and I didn't mind it at all.

I think Craft is the man for Ohio State. For one, the growing mutual attraction between Craft and Ohio State and the chance to play in his home state had a whole lot to do with his decommitment from Tennessee. The continued pursuit of Jackson by Tennessee probably didn't help either.

Craft would be a perfect glue guy at the point guard spot with the No. 1-ranked recruiting class talent that Ohio State would have around him. Craft is physical and tough on both sides of the basketball, and he has a great feel for where to be on the court and where to get the ball.
