You might want to keep an eye on his name because it might become familiar down the road. I have no first-hand information just sayin

Jeff Boals is one of the best things to happen to Ohio State Basketball recruiting since Mark Titus decided to come to Ohio State, thus luring in Oden and Conley.

Cook was one of the major standouts due to his feathery shooting touch and surprisingly solid point guard play. He doesn't possess the ideal size for the Division I level, but he certainly has the game for the highest level. Prior to seeing him at the trials, I envisioned Cook as an undersized 2-guard, but he definitely showed here that point guard is his projected position at the next level. The point guard crop wasn't special, with the exception of Anthony Wroten Jr., but Cook was the best combination of scorer/playmaker of the bunch. Besides his tremendous shooting touch, Cook changes speed very well and threw some dynamite passes in transition. In addition, he executed the pick-n-roll very well and facilitated the offense on a high-level. When he didn't dish off to his teammates he has an innate ability to score amongst the bigs, including a soft floater.

Quinn Cook is a junior to be at DeMatha High School and one of the top PG’s in the Class of 2011.

Quinn was nice enough to give an update about what’s going on this summer and possibly the future.

CDN: What aspect(s) of your game are you working on?

Quinn : I feel that I have to work on all aspects of my game for the future.

CDN: What is on tap for the summer?

Quinn: Summer league games with DeMatha and AAU ball with DC Assault. Also just working on my game.

CDN: What is your list of potential suitors for college as of now?

Quinn: – Ohio State, Kentucky, Indiana, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Florida, Clemson, Virginia, and some others.

Again, thanks to Quinn who will be a tremendous player at every level and is a player that will be a joy to watch.

Quinn Cook, 6-0 rising junior point guard, DeMatha: I last saw Cook, who just finished off an impressive stint with USA Basketball, in person as a freshman, and while I liked his potential I couldn?t get overly excited yet. Now it?s time to get excited, as the young man makes impeccable decisions with the ball in his hands, has in-the-gym range and possesses a combination of technically-sound and embarrass-you ballhandling ability.

Quinn Cook, DeMatha: Since I already covered Cook, there?s no need for further description of his game, but he was definitely the key to DeMatha?s comeback win, as he decided to take matters into his own hands by converting on strong drives to the rim, unconsciously stroking jumpers from all over the court, involving his teammates by setting them up for easy buckets, working extremely hard on D and most importantly, providing excellent leadership, both vocally and by example.

Cook Holding Court, DeMatha Seniors Mull Offers

Caught up with DeMatha basketball coach Mike Jones as he drove home from Chris Paul's CP3 Elite Guard Camp in Winston-Salem, N.C., where Jones noted the Washington area was well represented. DeMatha junior Quinn Cook, O'Connell senior Kendall Marshall (North Carolina), Georgetown Prep senior Markel Starks (Georgetown) and Gonzaga All-Met senior Tyler Thornton (Duke) were in attendance along with Jones and Gonzaga Coach Steve Turner.

While those three seniors long ago made their college choices, Jones said Cook is far from reaching his decision.

"It's all over the place," Jones said. "There's Wake Forest, Ohio State I talked to last night, and Duke wants him to come down for their elite camp this weekend, but I don't think he's going to make it. Virginia, Notre Dame Georgetown. He's got quite a few. Villanova, too."

Time to go visiting

Today is the first day college basketball coaches can leave campus to visit recruits. They can have contact with high-school seniors in their homes. They can show up at the schools of everyone else and underscore their interest in a prospect by watching him play in an open-gym setting.

With the 2010 class complete, Ohio State coaches will be engaging in a lot of the latter. They'll also be inviting prospects to campus for football games. The biggest of those is Saturday night against USC.

All six of the Buckeyes' 2010 commitments are expected to attend the USC game: Jared Sullinger and J.D. Weatherspoon of Northland, Jordan Sibert of Cincinnati Princeton, Aaron Craft of Findlay Liberty-Benton, Deshaun Thomas of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Lenzelle Smith of Zion, Ill.

Smith said he was told that some 2011 and 2012 recruits also have been invited. One of them might be 2011 point guard Quinn Cook of Bowie, Md. He could be the Buckeyes' top target at the point with Marquis Teague appearing to be leaning elsewhere.
