Random things that I think about and feel like telling everyone. I'll probably review some movies, too, just haven't seen many lately worth reviewing.

Review: WALL-E (2008)

I've seen WALL-E twice now, and I enjoyed it more the second time around. Before seeing it for the first time, I had very high expectations. I had heard that it was PIXAR's best film. That would be quite an accomplishment, given their impressive history. It's nearly impossible to live up to the expectations that I had set for WALL-E. Did it deliver and prove to be PIXAR's best?

Yes. It passes with flying colors. Not only is the story fantastic, it is heartwarming, sad, uplifting, political and every other adjective you can list. Like other PIXAR stories, the plot is actually quite dark. It's based in a future universe where Earth is littered with trash, and humans have left on a large, flying cruise ship. WALL-E is alone on the planet (well, almost, he has his cricket friend), until he meets EVE. Then the beauty of PIXAR's storytelling ability kicks in.

Somehow, the people at PIXAR can tell a story with animated characters better than most studios, directors, actors, etc. can with actual humans. It's hard to believe that this film will get you feeling happy and sad for the characters considering that they're not real. I am one who usually prefers movies with actual humans because it quite obviously seems more realistic. WALL-E doesn't necessarily achieve realism, but it allows the viewer to feel emotions that he or she might have experienced only in non-animated movies.

The quite obvious nods to the influence that Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey had on future film are also pretty cool. If you've seen 2001, you'll know what I mean.

In summary, go see this film when it arrives on DVD. Rent it, buy it, do whatever you have to do to see it, because it truly is fantastic. Best film of the year, so far.

10/10

Dude, you can't review movies you liked, you need to get drunk and only review movies that sucked, the goal is to say "[censored]" more than Dana White.

I will review bad movies if I see any, I haven't actually sat and really watched a bad movie completely in a long time.
