Wow, Nick may very well put himself into the first round with this performance. There is an outside chance we pull 4 guys off in the first round. I say at least 6 and maybe 8 go on the first day of the draft.

If Nick plays his way into the first round than that would make a longshot for 5. Hawk and Holmes are already presumed to be slam dunks, while Carpenter and Youboty are both projected for late first round as well. Simms, Kudla, Whitner, and Schlegel could all be 1st day picks, which makes (in a perfect scenario) 5 1st round picks and 9 on the first day.

I doubt it's a coincidence that Mangold traded blows after a rough shot from Ingram after two full days of schooling Ingram's teammate Dvoracek. All reports from the Senior Bowl I've read stated that Mangold was a stud on Monday and Tuesday -- making Dvoracek look silly. The Wednesday report finally mentions Dvoracek beating Mangold once on a pass rush and Ingram taking a shot at Nick's head.

Sounds like sour grapes from some overrated Oklahoma players to me.

From Wednesday's practice notes on Clint Ingram:

"Got into a big scrape in practice....first squared off against Mark Setterstrom then got into fisticuffs with another Big Ten lineman, Nick Mangold. The end result was Mangold's helmet flying off and Ingram being sent to the bench."

Nick Mangold: (1:47 PM ET ) What's up?

Jim (MI): What will you miss most about college?

Nick Mangold: (1:48 PM ET ) The fact that you are leaving all your boys behind that you spent four years with.

Aaron PHX: I heard you laid the smack down on a guy from OU. What was the disagreement about?

Nick Mangold: (1:48 PM ET ) Nothing too much. Just a little extracuriccular activity after the play. The helmet came off so I had to back off a bit.

Wade (Nashville): What has been the hardest part of the week so far?

Nick Mangold: (1:49 PM ET ) Probably just not having any real time. You are always busy and going from practice to meetings to interviews. I'm trying to keep everything straight.

Mike (Florence, MS): Nick, how awesome is Ted Ginn? Future superstar?

Nick Mangold: (1:50 PM ET ) I think he will be. He already is. Hopefully he keeps his head down and keeps working hard.

Ryan (NJ): Hey Nick, good luck to you at the next level. How did PSU compare to Texas, since you played both this year?

Nick Mangold: (1:50 PM ET ) I thought PSU was actually better on defense. They gave us more problems. But either way, they were both great teams and that's why they finished in the top five.

Shawn (Oakland): Who is the best OL you have played alongside so far at senior bowl?

Nick Mangold: (1:51 PM ET ) It's been a blast playing with Davin Joseph. He's a heck of a guard and has great feet. It's been great playing with him.

Luke (VA): How does it feel being called a "devastating downfield blocker"?

Nick Mangold: (1:52 PM ET ) It's awfully nice and appreciated. Hopefully I can keep it true.

Kris (ut): What are you looking forward to most about beind drafted and moving on to the NFL

Nick Mangold: (1:52 PM ET ) That I can keep playing for at least one more year and hopefully many more.

Wade (Nashville): Super Bowl prediction?

Nick Mangold: (1:53 PM ET ) I'm not very good at predictions. That's tough. I don't know. Whenever I pick they lose so I should probably stay out of it.

mike(Philly): How good did it feel to make ND look so bad

Nick Mangold: (1:54 PM ET ) It wasn't so much making them look bad but just making sure we won. It was an unbelievable feeling.

Thanks for the questions! Michigan still sucks.

Buzzmaster: (1:57 PM ET ) Thanks, Nick! Michigan and Ohio State both suck! Haaaaaaa! Just kidding. Don't hurt me.

Mel Kiper (on ESPiN today) said that Nick Mangold was #4 on his list of people that have really risen their draft stock at the senior bowl practices. Said that he "may have solidified himself as a 2nd round draft choice"

ANALYSIS
All that glitters is Mangold

Alter, OSU star dominates foes in Senior Bowl practice

By Carlos Holmes
For the Dayton Daily News

MOBILE, Ala . | During the week of practice at the Senior Bowl here, Ohio State All-American and Centerville native Nick Mangold handled his business like Tony Soprano, putting the smackdown on his opponents and impressing NFL scouts with his physical play and overall technique and ability at center.

Mangold was a beast in the middle of the North squad's offensive line during one-on-one drills Wednesday. He manhandled Oklahoma's star defensive tackle, Dusty Dvoracek, with relative ease.

If that wasn't enough to get the scouts attention, he pancaked Michigan's mammoth defensive tackle Gabe Watson, who came in at 6-foot-3, 341-pounds. The former Buckeye and Wolverine battled back and forth throughout the week. Mangold admitted after one practice that Watson had been his toughest opponent.

Mangold is known for being a devastating run blocker but showed scouts his ability to pass-block. He blew guys off the ball and anchored like a rock during pass protection. He sustained his blocks downfield, punishing defenders.

Mangold mauled Oklahoma linebacker Clint Ingram, who took exception to the play, and a brief altercation between the two broke out. Again, Mangold stood his ground.

He should see his NFL draft stock on the rise. He met with a number of teams, including the Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers.

Mangold said he had not yet met with the Bengals, but said he would have his fingers crossed.

When asked if he was worried about where he would land in the draft, Mangold was direct. "Not really," he said. "After watching enough guys go through it ... you will kill yourself if you try to worry about it. Besides, I would like to live a couple more years."

Nick is having a very solid Senior Bowl. He's looked good on running plays and in pass protection. He's really improved his draft position this week.

He is doing pretty well. I saw him on the sidelines and going in at halftime. I also saw him on a few plays out on the field. On what i saw he stills looks good like he did with the Bucks. GOOD LUCK MANGOLD # 55!

Nick has quietly had a great career at tOSU, he's one of those guys that most don't understand how much he will be missed. I'm quite certain he'll follow LeCharles Bentley's footsteps to the pro bowl in the next couple years.

Losing Nick is my biggest concern for the upcoming year. He has been so instrumental in the performance of our offense.
