I don't think it will help with Pryor one way or the other.

I am very intrigued, however, by the thought of Henton getting some snaps at QB. He definitely brings another dimension to the offense. We know he can run, but I also don't think the staff would be afraid to let him throw it either.

Very excited.

It makes me a little nervous to think he'll see his first significant action in a game of this magnitude. I haven't seen enough of him to feel confident that he could handle pressure, work through progressions, etc. But I'm all for throwing a few different wrinkles at them. It could be very interesting.

My opinion is JT will pull out all stops to win this game. I am also of the opinion that the key to the game is Boeckman. If Todd has a great game we stand a very good chance to win. If he is turning in an Illinois type performance (3 ints) I think JT will take the wraps off Henton and let it roll.

I think Henton will see some snaps esp in shot gun formation, direct snap and run. Thats about it.
I really hope we dont get too sweet in the gameplan however.

The only way that we'll see Henton is if Todd B. gets hurt, at least that is what I've been hearing.

That would make the most sense. We have to remember, this isnt a video game where you can just sub players in and out based purely on talent. Todd has been the starter all year and has valuable experience at places like Happy Valley.

for what its worth, I seriously doubt that if tressel was planning on using these packages with henton, that he'd be discussing it with the media beforehand.

and have most people forgotten that we're talking about one of the most conservative coaches in college football here? I see no way that henton throws a pass in this game w/o boeckman getting hurt. imo, if he comes in, which I highly doubt anyway, it'll be on designed runs all the way.

Don't get me wrong, I think Henton is probably a good QB, and will make great plays in the future. However, I don't know that I want to see him play in this game at all. While the QB play for the Buckeyes has been inconsistent, Boeckman has provided a spark in the offense and exploited weaknesses in opposing teams' secondaries. I do not want a young QB, who has EXTREMELY LIMITED playing experience playing in this game. Sure, he will be able to provide mobility. But I do not want Antonio feeling compelled to make a big play, make a mistake because of inexperience, or losing the football.

Exactly. And I can see this going the other way with Perrilloux. It is very likely that he will make mistakes due to the circumstances of the game and his lack of experience.

Agreed. Perilloux has at least one game as a starter under his belt, as well, and it was a championship-caliber game, might I add. I am not very worried about many things in LSU's gameplan. The only thing that comes to mind that petrifies me is the Tigers' dual QB system. While I think that OSU has the players to negate the efficiency of the system to the Buckeyes' favor, I believe Perriloux's mobility and experience could be a huge factor in this game.

There is no way you can even compare Perilloux and Henton at the same level at this point in their careers.

Unfortunately for Henton, his trouble that he got in earlier this year is probably going to affect whether he plays or not.

All in all, though, it would completely astonish me if Tressel played Henton in the game.

I wouldn't be so sure. Remember an Old Miss (0-8 in SEC) team used a dual-threat qb very effectively against LSU, outgaining them 466-to-396. LSU could not stop him and if it wasn't for 4 turnovers (1 fumble at goalline, 1 int by other qb who was brought in on goalline, 1 legit int by qb, and 1 end-of-game toss) and a kickoff return by LSU, that game might have swung the other way.

Tressel does have a habit of saying we are going to do something and then doing it. He does this I believe because it forces other teams to prepare for more packages and playsets during their practices than they otherwise would. And if, during the game, OSU runs those packages at least a couple times, it causes the other team to be on their heels moreso than they would against an otherwise conservative offensive gameplan. A good example of this is when Tress says we are going to throw deep and sure enough, each game we take those long shots down the field to get them thinking so they don't stack the box.

One other thing we have to remember is that in the last two games, Boeckman has thrown 4 ints with QB ratings of 87 and 70. I don't think Tress is willing to bet the farm that Boeckman will get out of his slump. It is more a risk not to think of Henton in the gameplan, especially if LSU decides to stack the box with a few deep safeties to take away Beanie and Boeckman's strengths. That's why he moved Robbie to TE, to get Henton the reps. If he does go in, however, I think they will probably give him a limited playbook like Florida gave Leak last year against us (no passes beyond 15-20 yards) to minimize any mistakes he might make from inexperience. But from what I saw Old Miss do to LSU, I think Tress might prefer more of Henton than what you might guess.

The direct snap to a guy who can run worked well for R-Kansas. It's even better if you do it with a guy who can throw. I'm sure Lles remembers the Ginn at QB formation.

FROM ESPN.com (after Auburn/Clemson Bowl Game)

Freshman quarterback Kodi Burns, receiving an expanded role in Auburn's new spread offense, scored on a 7-yard run in overtime to give the Tigers a 23-20 victory over Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Monday night.

Burns, who shared snaps with senior starter Brandon Cox, threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Mario Fannin in the third quarter and led Auburn with 69 yards rushing on 13 carries. Just like that, Auburn may have found its next starting quarterback.

Here's another argument for expanding Henton's role. Auburn is another team that fits the conservative offensive/strong defense; so is Virginia Tech. Both teams have struggled to find their offensive identify and both have started to use a two-quarterback system lately with much success. It may be a trend that only increases in the years to come and Tress, being a student of the game, I am sure is aware of this trend and will pull out all stops to right the wrong of last year.
