DB Dareus Hiley (official thread)
Why isn't Hiley listed anywhere on the 3 deep roster? Anybody know or have theories?

I might be getting Alzheimer's, but wasn't Hiley a corner at Glenville with Ginn? It would seem that he'd be more valuable at corner with the glut of talent we have at WR.

Whatever Hiley was at Glenville I was under the impression he was pure speed and am also surprised to see him behind either Jordan or Gonzalez. That said, a depth chart that comes out between the end of a season in which we lost 2 1/2 WRs and the first practice for those returning has little meaning IMO.
Further still, if there was any thought whatsoever to playing him on D as I (along with Mili) had originally anticipated i could not imagine his being listed behind Roberts, Jacobs, or 'this space left blank'. |

quick note on Gonzo- JT specifically has pointed out how well Gonzo did in practices leading up to the Fiesta Bowl. He is clearly impressed with him. As Nixon stated I think there are some good reasons why others are ahead of him at this point. That doesn't mean that the depth chart doesn't change alot by the time the season starts. It generally does. Plus I bet Hiley will be a factor on special teams.

Hiley and Gonzo are the future at flanker along with Albert Dukes. Gonzo is quick beyond belief. Awesome moves and very good hands. Childress will be gone and Holmes could be as well with a good year.
Hall, Jordan, and Lyons will be the future at split end. I think we'll see a lot of Hiley on special teams this year. He could be a real threat at kick returner and gunner on the punt team. |

Gonzo will surprise alot of people.
He's going to be valuable with his hands on the ball. ![]() |

We seem to have a plethora of talent at CB this year as well. Young, but many. I don't know that there are any more "available" CB positions than there are WR.

yea.. it is such a shame to have so much talent

Nixon: "So the only thing that could be suprising to me is that Gonzalez is ahead of Hiley, if for some reason I though it should be the other way around."
Gonzo is a better WR than Hiley. Gonzo is a sleeper, and a stud, and didn't need to be redshirted last year, if not for an absolute glut of people ahead of him on the depth chart. I always thought Hiley projected more as a DB at this level than a WR .. can someone shed some light on this for me? |

I vaguely remember something about Hiley getting burned in practice for an all-star game the summer before he joined the Bucks and not reacting well to it. Don't recall the circumstances exactly but at the time I wondered about his attitude. Maybe he is still having the same problem. Disclaimer: total speculation on my part.
