One play that really sticks out at me was in the first half(I beleive it was 10-10 at the time). We had a second and 4, Beanie was running all over them. We called a pass play and Boekman got hit and fumbled. We recovered, now it was 3 and 14.

Before that play I just knew we would pound it with Beanie...alas it was not meant to be.

Everybody have made great points. I think it boils down to this: football, like comedy and asking for a raise, is all about timing. You can trade all eleven carries that Beanie had in the second half for just one carry, when we were facing 3rd and 4 deep into lsu's territory with a chance to cut the score in half and also in obvious four down territory. Instead, we ended up with two consecutive sacks and turned the ball over deep in our territory. Of course you are not going to know how big of an impact this sequence had on the game on the stat sheets cuz Beanie never got this opportunity, but without a doubt, it was the deciding moment, the nail in the coffin, that is, if you still believed that Ohio State had a fighting chance at that point.

The game plan definitely caught me by surprise because going into the game, I, like many of us, really believed that if we had success on the ground early, Tressel is really going to ride Beanie until the end, like what he did with Krenzel against Miami. I know that we weren't as confident in our defense, but early on, our OLine was dominating the line of scrimage, we ran right into that line and really made LSU look bad. Steltz was also banged up. Oh well.

Beanie certainly marches to a beat of a different drum. If we dont win a NC next year imo he will come back.

I have a feeling that when it's all said and done, Beanie Wells will go down in history as one of the best backs ever to play college football.

Overall a great season for Beanie and obviously one of the most exciting things to look forward to next year.
Anyone notice that he is within range of passing Eddie on the career list?

Next year.

As a Junior.

Those stats are single season Muck. I'm guessing he might need a year and a half to pass Eddie, unless he really has a Heisman type year 1800-2000 yards. I'll have to look up career numbers but the ones on that chart are single season records.

After checking it looks like Beanie would be 2nd All-time behind Arch with about 1700 next season. Definitely reachable, however Archie is not unless Beanie pulls 2000 next year and returned as a senior.

Eddie has 3,668 career yards.

Currently Beanie has 2,106.

He needs fewer yards in 08 than he rushed for last season to pass Eddie.

He needs to average just over 1,700 over two years to pass Archie.

OSU has only 2 backs who have ever rushed for over a mile in a single season. Barring injury, Beanie is an absolute lock to make it 3 next year.

While Tressel is not usually one to overuse a back, I don't see how he could possibly limit his carries enough to keep him from surpassing the mile-mark.

In fact, with the line we have coming back (hopefully including Boone); Beanie stands a better than even chance of becoming the first Buckeye to rush for 2000+.

Beanie also is in the habit of ripping off yardage 1/32nd of a mile at a time. It doesn't take too many of those to get him there.

Being fully healthy next season, he could have one of those years that gets him mentioned in the same breath with some legendary names. He's going to start the season as one of the Heisman favorites, and is already #1 on Heisman Pundit's site. Of course, at this time last year, Tim Tebow wasn't even in the top 20 of that same list...

He has the will and ability to be great. Great, not in the over-used sense of the word, but as in "one of the great ones".

Thinking about some of Beanie's stiff arms and breakaway runs, and that in only his sophomore year, absolutely sick (in the good way )

I was going to tOSU during Keith Byers junior campaign (when he got hail-maried out of the Heisman ) and I'm really looking forward to Beanie dominating and bringing to the WHAC another Bronze statue in his Junior year.
