Mark is a "speed" guy, so I think he'll be great off the edge. And, like Gibson, he brings a nasty attitude!

Aren't there plenty of "speed rushing" 235lb DEs out there? Our guys are all bigger!(including Wells)

Anyone think Mark could get some playing time this year? I haven't heard a peep about him...almost like he's not there.

I certainly hope so. I think the first two games will play a huge factor in whether we see mark in the regular rotation. Not that long ago it looked like we were very thin on the line especially on the edge. Wilson and Heyward are locks to see plenty of PT. Then you got Gibson who should get tons of pt also. Rob rose if healthy will contribute either at DE or maybe even DT( he's like 300 lbs and built like a truck). Then you have soloman Thomas who's very athletic and will bring a ton of energy. And The incoming freshman wells and williams could even see some time. It's certainly going to be tough but if he can makes some plays or put in some quality pt then he will fight his way into the rotation.

Not major news when you lose a fourth-string defense end, but redshirt sophomore Mark Johnson has decided to transfer.
The California native might have seen the writing on the wall when he didn't make the 70-man travel squad for the USC game.
He's the third member of the class of 2006 to leave, joining defensive end Walter Dublin and quarterback Antonio Henton. Fullback Aram Olson also had his career ended by injury.
Behind a 2005 class that has served as the backbone of the team for three years, the 20-player 2006 class has done its part, producing nine players that have started, led by tailback Beanie Wells.
Safety Kurt Coleman, linebacker Ross Homan, defensive end Thaddeus Gibson, right tackle Bryant Browning, cornerback Chimdi Chekwa, defensive tackle Dexter Larimore, tight end Jake Ballard and departed junior college linebacker Larry Grant are the others. Receiver Ray Small, defensive lineman Rob Rose and nickelback Tyler Moeller have also made contributions.

Best of luck to Mark. It's unfortunate that these things don't always work out. I'm sure he'll find the right situation for himself, and really contribute wherever he ends up.

No link yet, but 1330 WFIN is reporting that Mark Johnson is transferring to the University of Findlay. Seems like an odd choice given that he is from California. Any truth to this?

Read, It in the Findlay paper today at the dentists office. So i would assume its going to happen.

Building a football program that can compete for a championship takes time.

The University of Findlay took another step toward becoming a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contender by landing three NCAA Division I transfers.

Outside linebackers Mark Johnson (Ohio State) and Jeff Cleveland (Miami of Ohio), along with offensive lineman Brett Keller (Toledo) enrolled in school on Monday and will be eligible to play this fall.

"The nice thing about getting mid-year transfers is that they can go through spring ball and get used to everything here," UF head coach Jon Wauford said. "It's a big advantage because now they can learn the system and be ready to go in the fall."

Johnson is the headliner of the group.

The 6-foot-3 redshirt junior was ranked as the 12th best linebacker in the nation coming out of Dorsey High School in Los Angeles and had offers from several major powerhouses, including Florida, Virginia Tech, Louisiana State and Oklahoma. He racked up 258 tackles in his final two seasons at Dorsey.
Will he be "ready to go" in the fall if he didn't enroll until now?
